Welcome to the Home of Sayle Canada

This is a private website for our Sayle family.

If you are interested in our heritage, this sept of the Sayle family originated in the Isle of Man. Our parents emigrated to Canada in the 1910s and 1920s, and moved to Vancouver Canada in the mid 1930s.

  1. My family and their descendents live in the Vancouver, White Rock and Victoria areas of British Columbia, and the San Francisco Bay Area.
  2. Descendents from my father's siblings live in the Isle of Man, and Liverpool area.
  3. Descendents from my grandfather's siblings live in Barrow-on-Furness, Lancaster and Sydney Australia.

Although Andreas IoM appears to be the historic centre of the Manx Sayle family, my family lived nearby in Bride.

This photo is of the village of Bride in the northeast of the Isle of Man.

I have found census records that showed my Sayle ancestors were living in this area around 1800.

My grandparents, Daniel Sayle and Elizabeth McFee, lived near Bride in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Their graves are in the Bride churchyard.

To assist Googlers looking for name combinations, Emslie and Bruce are surnames in our maternal lineage.

The Emslie lineage reaches back to Broomhill croft near Lumphanan in the early 1800s. Our Emslie great grandfather ended up in Auchenblae by 1875. His descendents moved on to other towns and villages, most notably Stonehaven and Fettercairn.

The maternal grandmother was a Bruce. That family had long roots in Fettercairn and the nearby croft Hunters Hill.

I have an extensive family tree on most of the Sayle, McFee, Emslie and Bruce families.
